Vermicomposting (Worm Composting)

VermiPRO model 16 was recently displayed at the Orange County Fair, Costa Mesa, California. A stackable-tray design vermicomposting unit that is an effective way to process your organic food wastes. It is even usable indoors as it is an odorless process. The unit is available from VermiPro with an excellent description of how it works. There are also many other online distributors.

I would suggest checking into vermicomposting (composting utilizing various species of worms, usually red wigglers [Eisenia foetida]). It is an effective, easy way to turn many types of kitchen waste into a nutritious soil for plants.

An easy entry point to a site detailing many aspects of vermicomposting is http://vermicomposters.ning.com/profile/EdRountree.

This was at the Los Angeles County Fair in September of 2009. It would be one fun street-legal vehicle to own!

Quilt Curio Display Cases

Kerrys Kollectibles produces Quilt Curio chests which we first saw a number of years ago at a fair in Anaheim, California.  They didn't have the particular style we wanted (glass on all for sides) but the willing produced one and at their next show in our area we where able to take delivery.
These are great display cases. They now have a quites a variety of styles and sizes. Check their site to see the offerings http://quiltcurio.com/ .

The story of the development of the cases is not opn the site but we'd suggest asking if they would share it with you. It was fascinating to us. These are very pleasant people to deal with and their products are excellent quality.

Work Station Ironing Board

We found the Ohana Creations Work Station/Ironing Board at the Pomona Quilt, Craft and Sewing Festival. A really handy concept to add some 'L' shaped space to an existing sewing machine surface or any other place you need work surface extension.

Its 12" x 24" is quite sufficient for a lot of project needs.  The whole assembly folds up if you don't want to leave it as a permanent surface.

Very adjustable to table thicknesses. Check it out at their site  http://www.ohanacreations.biz/. There are a few other of their products show there too.

Guidelines4Quilting Ruler/Cutting Guide

Found at the Pomona, California Quilt, Craft & Sewing Festival the quilting tools from Guideline4Quilting http://www.guidelines4quilting.com/ are going to be handy and useful to anyone who does any amount of quilting. Design for use with the rotary cutting blades their products are innovative.

Check them out at the next show on their tour. They are also are becoming available at shops so you may want to ask for them locally.

A lot of details & complete explanations of the benefits of their products are on their website and worth viewing.

Also all of their products are made in USA

Wide Mouth Bags

We found the Wide Mouth Bag product line a number of years ago at a craft fair. That seem kind of unusual so we talked to the owner, Louise, who was just introducing the product line and where impressed.

It is not something you make yourself. It comes complete (no assembly required) and ready to use.
We got a couple and found them to extremely handy. They work well for travel, events, sport bags, etc. We keep one in our vehicle for just odds and ends.

They are no longer being shown at fairs however, you can find them on-line at http://www.widemouthbag.com/ . So this becomes one of those "Seen At The Fair" once-upon-a-time items.

Well worth looking at (and getting some for your own use).

The Jalapeño Griller

Seen at the Los Angeles County Fair September of 2009: The Jalapeño Griller

This is a neat product line offered by a great couple (Ty & Reba) from Waxahachie, Texas.

Although we didn't buy lone at the fair they are sure something we would consider for gifts to our friends who Bar-B-Q. Ty & Reba were most hospitable to our questions about their items.

They state that all the products are made only with American produced materials. I believe them.

Check the product line at http://www.jalapenogriller.com/

Seen At the Fair

Fairs (and Faires too) are fun. Exciting, dull items and always enjoyable people and vendors.

This blog will be about items found that interested us and where they can be found even if they have disappeared from the fair circuit.

If you have things you find worth listing here, let us know. "Seen At the Fair" may be more fun and useful than the other "As Seen On -" offerings. Well at least we think it will be. . .
